If you buy gasoline or diesel fuel you are funding Islamic State.

The destroy IS, stop driving. To put an end to the ongoing bankruptcy of the world, stop driving. In almost every way, driving is a pleasure, non-remunerative. Oil-state militancy is also a pleasure, not a necessity. The solution to oil-state militancy is stringent energy conservation.

The US should use ISIS as a way to foster a better relationship with Iran and also get more out of the Saudi’s at the same time. We should also lean more on Iraq to get more control back and keep it. In short just use this to our advantage as much as possible.

Obama has a simple issue to address …. to punish Islamic State but not to get dragged back into Middle East. Stay focussed and do not drag Syria or Iran into this Matrix to please your allies; and you will find your solutions. Ignore this and we will have a repeat of Afghan strategy of mid 80’s. Short term success and long term pain and embarrassment (remember 9/11).

Solution: Let Russia support Syria and let Iran support Iraq to fight ISIS. The US can provide logistical support to Iraq as well as intelligence but stay out and let the Middle East continue to fight for another thousand years. The Middle East needs dictators to control the crazies Islam brings into the world. Meanwhile stop all immigration from these countries into the US and west. We have enough of our own crazies, most in government.

The author assumes he has the answer but really does he? The Middle East is a mess. I don’t know how Saudi Arabia, that probably funded ISIS, is going to now turn against them? It is a Shiite / Sunni war and Saudi is Sunni wanting to rid itself of Shiites in Iran and Syria. What else can we call it? We need to be out of this mess if at all possible and secure our borders and hope they work it out. Electric cars and solar need to be pushed…and any other alternative energy. We are really in too deep in the Middle East and it seems no way out. I am sure Obama is trying to do what every he can do, but listen if it was your mom or dad that got their head lobbed off…you would be hopping mad too. I have no idea what the right answer is here, but getting in the middle of the Shiite and Sunni war is not my cup of tea.

Good article; hard to work with Iran when their overarching aim is getting the bomb. I don’t think anyone really knows what we (USA) should do now. I am an independent and an amateur but well read middle eastern history buff. I feel more perplexed every day.
