As I wrote to Vice-President Ms Viviane Redding some time ago, no answer came, I would love any EU oficial to visit me in my home on the Costa Brava, endure a few days of Madrid rule, get a really good view of things for themselves, and decide if they would be willing to put up with five minutes of this kind of treatment in THEIR country. Catalans are being exposed to extraordinary bouts of racial hatred (who in EU is becrying this?), their self-rule has been pulverized, and they are daily treated like a colony my Madrid. Come and see it for yoursélves!

All that we want is the dissolution of Spain.Too many people were killed by Spain,in Gallicia,Basque Country and Catalonia.Spain is na evil country and all the people that are opressed by Spain’s tirany should be free and live a peacufull life.Still today there are gallicians,basque and catalonians being arrested on the streets and in their homes with false accusations and kept ilegally arrested with no rights.Its a shame to have a country like this in the EU.Spain its like Turkey.It should leave the EU.It shame us all.

It’s amazing that the Spanish Marches of Charlemagne’s empire still feel the need to separate themselves from the rest of Spain – despite all material and political self interest pointing towards unity. It is very entertaining to see how so many people outside of Spain drink the shameless propaganda coming out of Barcelona and its nationalist radicals. Spain is an INDIVISIBLE country, like the U.S. and every dignified country. We will not allow our country to be divided by fanatical separatists. And this is what happens when you have an analyst read a couple twitter feeds on a language he’s not fluent in, then ask him to provide a sutuation report. Mr. Ljungquist has set the focus on the extremist fringes of both sides of the debate and the article suffers as a result. "Democracia Nacional" is not quite a "pr-democracy" party but a neo-nazi third positionist organization, and few if any in the catalonian secessionist movement take heed of XIXth Century racialist theories.

I’m not denying there’s a certain risk of radicalization in the Catalan separatist movement, but not for the reasons posited above.

Mr. Ljungquist obviously was able to investigate this issue beyond what the Catalan nationalist extremists are saying here in Spain, and, judging by the miss-informed coments here, also outide of Spain. Catalonia spends millions of euros a year in propaganda, and by the looks of it, it works! Thank you for your informative and correct article.
