“The war is over” according to the leader of Britain’s Brexit Party, Nigel Farage.
He was speaking after the prime minister, Boris Johnson, reached an agreement with the European Commission on Christmas Eve, which provides a new framework for the two sides’ relationship.
The deal prevents severe disruption to trade, which was widely expected at the start of the new year. It also saves Mr Johnson – who had pledged to “get Brexit done” – from major political embarrassment.
